Update 5/11/20: Due to Covid-19, we do not know if we will open for cherry picking. The crop looks really good, should be ready middle of June, we will make a decision at that time. Please check back for update. Chris and Norm
Cherry Picking Season Update
Why Windy Ridge for U-Pick Cherry Picking?
High atop a ridge in beautiful Leona Valley is a family-owned immaculate cherry orchard with delicious Bing and Rainier cherries growing on dwarf trees. The trees are trimmed to 7 feet so all the cherries are within easy reach from the ground. For children this is ideal and little ones love picking cherries.
Cherries picking features
A number of other features make Windy Ridge unique. We have safe off-street parking. It’s just short walk (or ride) to the base of the hill where our tractor-pulling tram will take you to the orchard. We have clean plastic buckets for your cherries.
The view of the valley from our orchard is spectacular…the nicest in the valley. Once you have picked your cherries, we welcome you to enjoy the shade of our many trees and picnic tables, along with our wash area and portable toilets. You are welcome to visit with our horses or just enjoy the day. You may wish to bring a picnic lunch. There are some refreshments available in our little cherry stand, and ice-cold water from our coolers is free. We do not charge for admission or parking. We just want you to pick and enjoy our fruit and take plenty home to your friends and family. Cherries also freeze very well and can be enjoyed all year.
Our cherries are all natural with nothing more than a traditional fertilizer used to supplement the soil nutrients. We never use pesticides.
Chris and Norm are very friendly and nice. We came today, May 31, 2004 Memorial Day. The weather is very nice and clear. Cherries are really sweet. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys pickings cherries and a family outdoor activity.
